Notice how the roots searched out the water being held in the reservoir. No root rot! Specialized roots that actively grow down into the water, will stay healthy while submerged because they developed for that environment. Semi-hydroponics ™ is ideal for water hungry orchids such as Phragmipediums, by maintaining water requirements without creating the anaerobic conditions that promote the decomposition of mediums such as bark or coconut husk, which will eventually facilitate root rot.
Close up of the root ball showing how the roots have attached to the PrimeAgra ™. You can see how easy this is going to be to re-pot!

Bulbophyllum lobii. Bulbos are another water hungry orchid that are well suited for semi-hydroponics ™. Their growth habit can prove to be a challenge in the hydro-pots, and I honestly love to see Bulbos mounted, but they do thrive in PrimeAgra ™. You just have to train the rhizomes.

(there's a basal keiki in there somewhere)
